A three-day Bangladesh trade fair will kick off in New York City on September 21, which will be organised to bolster business relations with the United States.
The trade fair titled “Rupayan Global Convention and Bangladesh Trade Fair-2018” will be held at Jackson Heights in New York.
Muktadhara New York Inc. is the organiser of the trade fair.
NRB Worldwide Inc will conduct the event. The Financial Express is the media partner of the trade fair.
The organisers said the event will take place on a regular basis during the third week of September when the UN General Assembly convenes.
The trade fair will be inaugurated at 7:00pm on September 21, 2018, the organiser said in a statement.
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Vice-President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) SM Mannan Kochi, and Acting Editor of The Financial Express Shahiduzzaman Khan will join the event as the special guests.
Other special guests are: Executive Director at the Bangladesh Gyan O Srijonshil Prokashok Samity Monirul Haque, FBCCI Director Shomi Kaiser, Vice Presidents of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh Abul Fatha Md. Ahkam Ullah Imam Khan and Md. Abdul Kauiam Chowdhury, Vice Chairman of the Rupayn Group Mahir Ali Khan, and former permanent representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Dr Abdul Momen.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shariar Alam, former State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Dipu Moni, Commerce Secretary Shubhasish Bose, Finance Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukdar, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the USA Ziauddin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s UN permanent representative Masud Bin Momen and Consul General of Bangladesh in New York Sadia Faizunnesa have also been invited to attend the event.
Local realtors Rupayan Group, Purbachal American City, Bengal Biscuits, Pran RFL will participate in the three-day fair.
Clothing brands Infinity, Jamdani House, and Deshi Dosh will also participate in the fair, according to the organiser.
The fair will organise seven seminars at the fair venue.
The topics of the seminars are: Bangladesh’s graduation from the least developed country status, role of Bangladeshi expatriates in the development of the economy, how to expand Bangladesh-made products market in the USA, a dream house in Bangladesh and investment in the real estate, digital revolution and outsourcing, homecare services and the creation of awareness among the Bangladeshi expatriates as well as the problems relating to immigration.
The programme will begin on Saturday and Sunday (September 22 and 23) at 11 in the morning and will continue until 12 midnight.
The inauguration programme, however, will start at 7:00 pm and end at 12 midnight.
The fair will also organise a cultural programme.
Renowned vocalist and member of Parliament Momtaz Begum, actor Shomi Kaiser, Rabindra sangeet singer of Bangla (West Bengal) Shreya Guhathakurta and other musicians will perform in the event.
Earlier, Muktadhara New York had organised programmes under the caption of Bangla and Bengali in the World in 2005, 2015 and 2016.
Biswajit Saha, founder of Muktadhara New York Inc, and some 10 Bangladeshi entrepreneurs initiated the move to widen Bangladesh’s market in the world’s largest economy.
The other entrepreneurs are: Prodip Saha, Shoaib Sajjad, Shuva Roy, Sharmin Rahmna Tandra, Murad Akash, Tanvir Rabbani, Partha Saha, Samule Farook, Taskin Ahmed and Anowar Hossain.
