Bangladesh earned US$ 41 billion from exports during fiscal 2017-18.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said made the disclosure while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member AFM Bahauddin (Nasim) of Madaripur-3 in the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday.
“We have exported 744 products in 202 countries during the last corresponding year, while only 25 products were exported in 68 countries in 19972-73 fiscal,” he said.
He said the government formulated export friendly and time befitting export policy in 2009-12, 2012-2015 and 2015-2018 aimed at ensuring Bangladesh’s position in competitive global trade along with speeding up export trade, reports BSS.
The minister said Bangladesh participated 35 international trade fairs in 2016-17 financial year, adding, “Arrangements have been taken to participate 29 trade fairs during the 2018-19.”
The government has been giving special cash incentive two percent to 20 percent on 35 products aimed at ensuring export value more competitiveness, Tofail said.
