The SAARCFINANCE Cell, Research Department of the Bangladesh Bank organised a SAARCFINANCE database webinar and working group meeting on Tuesday through a virtual platform.
The theme of the webinar was “COVID-19 Pandemic in the SAARC Countries: Policy Responses and its Impact”, says a press release.
The theme of the webinar has been selected considering the ongoing inexplicable global crisis amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
Each member central banks of the SAARCFINANCE presented their respective country papers and exchanged their experiences during pandemic in the webinar.
Mr Abu Farah Md Nasser, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank inaugurated the event as Chief Guest.
Mr Asish Kumar Dasgupta, Executive Director (Research) of Bangladesh Bank chaired the Inaugural Session.
Dr Mridul Kumar Saggar, Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India delivered the keynote speech and Mr AKM Fazlul Haque Mia, Executive Director (Statistics) was also present as a Special Guest.
Dr Md Habibur Rahman, Executive Director (Research) of Bangladesh Bank chaired the Working Sessions.
The audience of the webinar was the domestic and foreign delegates of the member Central Banks of the SAARCFINANCE Network.
The 10th SAARC Summit of the Head of the States of the SAARC Region which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 29 July 1998 agreed, in principle, to establish a "Network of Central Bank Governors and Finance Secretaries of the SAARC Region (SAARCFINANCE)" to open dialogues on macro-economic policies of the region and sharing mutual experiences and ideas.
