The central bank has further extended the policy relaxation on loan or lease repayments to the non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) by their borrowers, officials said.
Under the relaxations, a borrower will get a chance to remain unclassified if he/she repays a minimum of 50 per cent of the loan or lease as of June within August 31, 2021, on the basis of the NBFI-customer relationship, according to a notification, issued by the Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Monday.
The remaining portion of the loan, up to June 2021, needs to be paid along with the next instalments of the loan, lease or advance, it added.
The previous deadline for full payment was June 30. Borrowers are thus getting two more months to repay 50 per cent of the dues, the officials explained.
The latest BB move came against the backdrop of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Bangladesh, the officials added.
