BAT Bangladesh hands over cheque to Worker’s Welfare Fund

As per the labour law of the country, British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BAT Bangladesh) handed over BDT 8,82,07,988 to the Labour Welfare Fund.

On Sunday, at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Golam Mainuddin, Chairman of BAT Bangladesh and Rumana Rahman, Head of Human Resources handed over the cheque to Mujibul Haque, MP, State Minister for Labour and Employment, said a statement.

At the cheque handover ceremony, the State Minister of Labour and Employment commented, “As per the labour law, British American Tobacco Bangladesh is making their contributions in this fund for last few years. On behalf of my Ministry, I thank them for this contribution. At present, the total amount of deposited fund is BDT 3.0 billion. If a worker dies, the deceased’s family receives BDT 0.2 million from this fund. In addition, if children from workers family receive up to BDT 3 lacs per member for their educational support.

Rumana Rahman, Head of Human Resources, BAT Bangladesh said, “Workers are the main driving force of a company. BAT Bangladesh, as a responsible company ensures benefits in compliance with Bangladesh Labour Law and ILO Convention. In addition, we have taken up various development initiatives in respect of welfare of our workers and their families”.
