An Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the apex ICT trade association was held recently in the city.
The EGM took place to amend existing laws at BASIS constitution regarding BASIS membership criteria, membership process and proper business nature to become BASIS member, said a statement.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir presided over the EGM.
More than 200 BASIS member company representatives participated and unanimously passed the recommendations to modify BASIS membership process and amend the constitution accordingly.
Alongside BASIS members, Senior Vice President Farhana A Rahman, Vice President (Admin) Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Vice President (Finance) Mushfiqur Rahman, Director Tamzid Siddiq Spondon, Director Didarul Alam and Director Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke were also present at the EGM.
“Those companies who are doing IT/ITES business in Virtual Platform as well as foreign IT/ITES business companies registered under Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms in Bangladesh are keen to become BASIS Members, we also want to create an inclusive ICT trade association,” the BASIS president said.
“Together we will create better growth eco-system. It will foster the development of ICT sector. In this regard we have proposed some changes in our current membership process based on the recommendations of membership advisory committee,” he added.
