Services in all the branches of scheduled banks located in the Dhaka city corporation (North and South) election areas will remain closed on Thursday, according to a Bangladesh Bankcircular.
Along with the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral by-polls, 36 new wards - 18 each in DNCC and DSCC - are set to go to elections on Thursday.
Besides, banking services will also remain closed out of the capital where the Union Parishad and Municipal elections are scheduled to be held on the same day, it added.
However, banking operations of the Bangladesh Bank and other commercial banks will continue as usual outside the election areas.
Earlier, the government declared February 28 (Thursday) as a public holiday in the electoral areas of DNCC by-elections in order to facilitate the voters.
