Bangladesh Bank (BB) has made banking diploma mandatory for bankers to get promoted to senior officers and above in order to increase their skills and efficiency in banking activities.
Issuing a circular on Wednesday, the central bank said bankers will have to pass both the Junior Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (JAIBB) and Diploma Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (DAIBB) certificates, a benchmark of knowledge and experience of bankers regarding banking rules and norms, to get promoted.
The new directive would be effective from January 01, 2024, according to the circular.
Earlier, the central bank issued rules for allocating marks against banking diplomas in the total number needed to promote to general manager and equivalent posts.
