Bank Asia Foundation has selected 205 meritorious students, who live in rural areas, to give scholarship for higher study for the current year as a part of corporate social responsibility.
The Foundation has provided the scholarship to 23 students of Malkhanagor, Sirajdikhan, Baligaon and Nimtola in Munshiganj and Rohitpur of Keraniganj and Agla Bazar of Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka district.
A Rouf Chowdhury, Chairman of the Bank & Bank Asia Foundation, handed over the scholarship money to the students at a function held on Friday at Malkhanagor Degree College auditorium, according to a media statement.
Former Chairman of Board Executive Committee, Bank Asia and Director of the Bank Asia Foundation Rumee A Hossain, Vice Chairman of Sea Resources Group Amanullah Chowdhury, Director of Sea Resources Group Enam Chowdhury, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia Md Arfan Ali, Executive Director of Bank Asia Foundation Aminul Islam, Principal Malkhanagor Degree College Shafiuddin Howlader, Sirajdikhan Upazila Chairman Mohiuddin Ahmed were present in the programme.
A large number of people including students, teachers, journalists and local elite also joined in the function.
The Bank Asia Foundation has been giving the scholarship where the bank has branches, said the media release.
