Mobile-phone operator Banglalink has launched its new number series ‘014’.
Regulator BTRC’s Acting Chairman Jahurul Haque made the first call from a ‘014’ number to Posts, Telecom and IT Minister Mustafa Jabbar at the launching event at the company’s headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday.
“The introduction of a new number series by an operator demonstrates that our telecom industry is advancing fast playing a vital role in digitalising the country,” the minister said via the call.
The telecom service provider’s CEO Erik Aas, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer Taimur Rahman, Chief Commercial Officer Ritesh Kumar Singh and other top officials of the organisation were present during the event.
“We take the new prefix as an emblem of the whole new service-experience our customers are enjoying due to our new and stronger dual carrier network,” CEO Aas said.
The current Banglalink pre-paid users having ‘019’ number series can get new ‘014’ series SIM cards for free after completing NID verification, and can also enjoy Tk 0.54 per minute rate for calls between those two numbers for lifetime, officials said at the event.
In addition, upon topping up Tk 48 for the first time, customers can call numbers of any operator at Tk 0.01 per second call rate for 90 days, according to bdnews24.
They will also get an instant 1GB free data offer, the officials added.
Banglalink SIM cards with the ‘014’ number series will be available at all Banglalink Customer Care Centres and Service Points throughout the country.
