Bangladesh Trade & Investment Summit kicks off today

The Bangladesh Trade and Investment Summit 2021 will begin in the city today (Tuesday), aiming to connect traders and investors from around the world, report agencies.

The Commerce Ministry and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) are jointly arranging the weeklong summit from October 26 to November 01 to mark the Mujib Year and the golden jubilee of the country's Independence.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually attend as the chief guest in the inaugural session of the summit at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 10am on Tuesday.

Besides, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, PM's Private Indu-stries and Investment Affairs Adviser Salman Fazlur Rah-man and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Jasim Uddin will be present at the inaugural session, said a DCCI release.

Earlier, at a press conference, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that this summit is a remarkable example of the PPP model which will help Bangladesh to showcase and take necessary measures in formulating new policies for a developed economy.

He added that, in recent years Bangladesh made remarkable progress especially in electricity generation and infrastructure development which is an added advantage to attract foreign trade and investment.

The commerce minister said his ministry is relentlessly working to sign FTAs and PTAs with potential countries to tackle the challenges after the LDC graduation of Bangladesh.
