Bangladesh, Japan renew memorandum of cooperation under public-private partnership

Bangladesh and Japan have renewed their work under the public-private partnership (PPP) in various sectors under the government arrangements by renewing the memorandum of cooperation (MoC) recently.

The Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan signed the MoC at a ceremony held at the Bangabandhu Auditorium of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo on October 5.

Vice Minister for MLIT Hayashi Toshiyuki and CEO of PPP Authority Muhammad Ibrahim signed the MoC on behalf of the respective sides, according to a press release from PPPA issued on Monday. 

The PPPA, along with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo, Japan, organised the ‘Renewal of Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC)’ signing ceremony with the MLIT.

State Minister for MLIT, Japan, Iishi Hiroo; Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Bangladesh, Dr Ahmad Kaikaus; and Bangladesh Ambassador in Japan, Shahabuddin Ahmed, were present during the signing ceremony.

Prior to the signing, according to the PPPA release, a day-long discussion and evaluation of the MoC took place in the MLIT.

The Bangladesh delegation, led by Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, attended it. The Japanese delegation was led by Vice Minister of MLIT Hayashi Toshiyuki.

The other members of the Bangladesh delegation were Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Md Mokammel Hossain, Roads and Highways Division Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Railways Ministry Secretary Md Humayun Kabir, Additional Secretary of ERD Shahriar Kader Siddiky and Chattogram WASA Managing Director AKM Fazlullah.

They were supported by relevant officials of the respective directorates and authorities.
