The government allowed export of more 2,520 tonnes of hilsa to India ahead of the Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.
The Ministry of Commerce gave permission to 63 trading firms on Thursday to export the said quantity of fish to the neighbouring country.
Each of the firm would export 40 tonnes, according to a notification, issued on the day.
Earlier, the government permitted export of 2,080 tonnes of hilsa on September 20 to India for the festival.
It also gave special permission to the 52 trading firms then against 118 applications - submitted up to September 15.
