Bangladesh Bank (BB) has re-fixed the banking hours as per the new guideline of the Cabinet Division to halt the sharp rise of Covid-19 in the country.
On July 15, 18 and 19, banking activities will run as per normal schedule from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and banks will remain open until 6:00 pm, as per a BB circular issued on Tuesday, reports BSS.
On July 16 and 17, commercial banks in industrial areas around garment factories will remain open to facilitate the payment of salaries and bonuses of workers on holy Eid-ul-Azha.
As per the BB circular, the bank branches in garments industrial areas like Dhaka Metropolitan, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram areas should be kept open by ensuring adequate security and health rules.
Banks remain open from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm on Friday and Saturday while banking hours will be 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
From July 25 to August 05, BB has instructed all banks to operate on a limited scale during the strict lockdown.
During the period, banking hours will be 10:00 am to 1:30 pm to facilitate transactions while banks will remain open until 3:00 pm.
