The government has slapped a ban on airing local advertisements on foreign television channels downlinked in Bangladesh
A PID handout said the Ministry of Information issued an order on Wednesday in this regard as per section 19(13) of the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act 2006, reports UNB.
It prohibits airing advertisements on foreign channels targeting Bangladeshi audience.
If any Bangladeshi TVC [television commercials] is aired on a foreign channel, then it would be a violation of section 11 of the Act.
The distribution license will be made invalid and/or suspended. The violator will be punished as per section 28, the handout pointed out.
