The commerce ministry has requested different authorities concerned to take measures to stop the activities of the e-commerce platform jadurjini.com for protecting consumers from its fraudulent practices.
It asked the state agencies like Police, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) to take steps as per their respective authorities regarding the issue.
The online platform has been trying to sell different products through offering discounts that range between 30 per cent and 50 per cent less than that of the market price, according to its Facebook page and website.
It is also promising to the customers to prove the products, but after taking advance payments. For this, there is a scope to play foul with the customers again, according to an MoC letter sent to the agencies on Sunday last.
It added that the platform has already embezzled Tk 3.36 million of 23 customers in the name of selling different products.
A case was filed with a court against four people, including the owner, and they are absconding now.
