Apparel export sees 11.64pc  average growth in last 10 years

Apparel export witnessed 11.64 per cent annual average growth in the last 10 years to FY18.

Five of the years were originally marked by double-digit growth while the rest by single-digit growth.

Calculated on the basis of the data provided by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the estimation showed this.

The highest growth was registered in FY10 when the country’s apparel export surged by 43.39 per cent and reached $17.91 billion.

The lowest growth in apparel export was recorded in FY17 when it increased marginally by 0.18 per cent over the previous year.

Export of apparel includes both woven garment and knit garment.

During the 10-year period, total export of apparel increased by 149 per cent.

The export value was $12.34 billion in FY09, which increased to $30.61 billion in FY18.
