A kind-hearted entrepreneur, a true leader: Anwar Hossain commemorated at DCCI condolence meeting

Friends, family members, business leaders and a former minister joined a DCCI programme remembering late entrepreneur Anwar Hossain for setting trends for setting up industries in Bangladesh.

An honest and ethical businessman, Anwar Hossain, founder chairman of Anwar Group of Industries and DCCI Foundation, established 22 industrial units, employing 14,000 people, the virtual meeting recalled.

“Today’s young business leaders have a lot to learn from Mr. Anwar Hossain,” said former commerce minister Tofail Ahmed, paying rich tributes to him for all his great deeds.

Moderating the discussion held on Saturday, President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Rizwan Rahman said Anwar Hossain wanted to create employment opportunities for at least 50,000 people in his lifetime.

“He was a kind-hearted leader who never made any difference between his family members and workers,” he added.

Aftab-Ul Islam, former president of DCCI said Anwar Hossain’s Mala Sharee was the first local brand of Bangladesh. “It became possible only for him.”

Anwar Hossain entrepreneurial capacity was rare, stated Mahbubur Rahman, former DCCI president and current President of International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh. “He was all through successful as a man, as a businessman, as a leader and as a father as well,” Mr. Rahman said.

Former DCCI president MA Sattar said  Anwar Hossain had a keen insight to select perfect leaders.

FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin said Anwar Hossain played the leading role in employment generation and industrialisation. “It’s our duty to follow him,” he added.

Abul Kasem Khan, another former DCCI president, said Anwar Hossain was an institution himself and had a versatile personality. “Young entrepreneurs should follow him to become successful. He created leadership.”

Former DCCI president Asif Ibrahim said he was a man of values, principal and punctuality.

Md Sabur Khan, former DCCI president, said Anwar Hossain played a key role in making DCCI one of the vibrant voices of the private sector.

Group Managing Director of Anwar Group, Manwar Hossain, also his elder son, said Anwar Hossain led a simple life and he loved all his workers and staff members. “He never broke his commitments once he gave.”

Hossian Khaled, a former DCCI president, and his younger son, said that his father did a lot of humanitarian and social works, established mosques and madrasas and sponsored orphans to continue their studies.

He requested the DCCI Foundation authorities to work on mental health issues. “Above all, he was a very pious man all through his life,” he said.
