A seven-day Divisional SME Product Fair kicked off in Sylhet city on Thursday for showcasing and promoting products - produced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) - in the local market.
Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen inaugurated the fair as the chief guest in a ceremony at Muhammad Ali Gymnasium in the city. SME Foundation Managing Director Dr. Md. Mafizur Rahman chaired the programme.
A total of 52 stalls of SMEs are showcasing and selling their products in the fair. It will remain open for all from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, and end on February 22 (Wednesday).
Cultural programmes will be arranged on the fair premises every day. Besides, a seminar - highlighting development of the SME sector in Sylhet division - will be held on February 19. This year, SME product fair was organised in Rajshahi on January 12-18 and in Barisal on February 1-7.
The SME Foundation also plans to organise such fair in Dinajpur on March 01-07 and in Jessore on March 5-11.
All the fairs will be organised under supervision of the divisional commissioner concerned as per instructions of the Cabinet Division.
