Thirty-five companies listed under DSE and CSE have received the 7th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, 2019.
Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) organised the award giving ceremony on Saturday at Grand Ball Room, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden to recognise the firms’ excellence in corporate governance.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, MP attended the function as the Chief Guest and handed over crests and certificates to the winning companies in 13 categories.
Among the awardees in the General Banking category, BRAC Bank Limited achieved Gold while Eastern Bank Limited and Bank Asia Limited obtained Silver and Bronze respectively.
In the Islami Banking category, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited bagged Gold while Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited and Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited received Silver and Bronze respectively.
In the Non-Banking Financial Institutions category, Delta Brac Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. achieved gold while IDLC Finance Limited and IPDC Finance Limited obtained Silver and Bronze respectively.
Likewise, in General Insurance Companies category, Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd. won gold while Reliance Insurance Limited and Nitol Insurance Company Limited bagged Silver and Bronze respectively.
Pragati Life Insurance Limited received gold in Life Insurance Companies category.
Similarly, in the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Companies category, The IBN Sina Pharmaceutical Limited received gold while Orion Pharma Limited and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited achieved Silver and Bronze respectively.
In the Textiles and RMG Companies category, Shasha Denims Limited won gold and Paramount Textile Limited bagged Silver.
In the Food and Allied Companies category, Golden Harvest Agro Industries Limited achieved the gold trophy and National Tea Company Ltd. won Silver.
Likewise, In IT, Telecom Companies category, Grameenphone Limited bagged gold while Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited and IT Consultants Limited achieved the Silver and Bronze respectively.
Singer Bangladesh Limited received gold in the Engineering Companies category while BBS Cables Limited and Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Ltd. (BSRM) bagged Silver and Bronze respectively.
RAK Ceramics Bangladesh Limited won gold in the Manufacturing Companies category while Premier Cement Mills Limited and Marico Bangladesh Limited achieved Silver and Bronze respectively.
Similarly, in Fuel & Power Companies category, Linde Bangladesh Limited got the gold while Summit Power Ltd. and United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd. received Silver and Bronze respectively.
Finally, in Services Companies category, Unique Hotel & Resorts Limited won gold award while Eastern Housing Limited and The Peninsula Chittagong Limited bagged Silver and Bronze respectively.
The award giving ceremony, streamed live in various virtual platforms, was addressed by the special guests Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Chairman, BSEC and Dr. Md. Jafar Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, GoB.
Muzaffar Ahmed FCMA, FCS, President of ICSB chaired the award giving programme. Mohammad Sanaullah FCS, Past President & Chairman CGA Organising Committee also spoke on the occasion.
A large number of dignitaries, professionals, executives from leading corporate houses of Bangladesh, members of the Institute, media and journalists attended the event.
