Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate has sued 25 trade organisations for evading VAT in this year’s Dhaka International Trade Fair.
A team of the Commissionerate led by Dr Moinul Khan, commissioner of Customs and VAT (Dhaka West Zone) visited the trade fair on Monday night and found the trade organisations guilty of evading VAT.
Some trade organisations didn’t deposit VAT to the government authorities concerned even after collecting from customers, Moinul Khan told reporters after paying the visit.
Cases have been filed against the organisations for evasion of VAT under the VAT Act, the commissioner added.
