Nearly 2.3 million individuals submitted their income tax (IT) returns until the deadline that expired on Sunday last.
About 0.1 million filed their returns on the last day of the deadline, according to provisional data, raising the total number to 2,299,625.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) bagged Tk 32.81 billion in taxes against the returns until January 2, 2022, sources said.
The tax offices across the country also received 362,282 time petitions or applications for extension of the return submission time.
The submission of returns by the individual taxpayers within the deadline grew by 9.51 per cent this assessment year (FY 2021-22).
However, the holders of Taxpayers Identification Number (TIN) stood at 6.2 million until June, 30, 2021.
Of the total, 61,203 taxpayers submitted returns online while 69,745 prepared the returns using the app. Also, 105,521 taxpayers registered with the eReturn site to avail online return facility.
