Twelve crisis-ridden e-commerce companies refunded around Tk 818 million to their affected customers until date, according to the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) data.
The platforms are: Qcoom, Alesha Mart, Dalal Plus, Boom Boom, Anander Bazaar, Tholey.com, Dhakamak.com, Shreshth.com, Alifworld, Bangladesh deal, Sophectic, and 99-global.
The amount of customers' stuck-up funds with 25 e-commerce platforms would be around Tk 5.0 billion, a latest central bank report revealed, which is much higher than the previous estimate of Tk 2.14 billion.
Earlier, the MoC started taking steps for refunding the customers of the e-commerce portals.
The government authorities concerned took multiple steps following various scandals by dubious e-commerce platforms, such as Evaly, E-orange, Dhamaka Shopping, Sirajganj Shop, Dalal plus, etc.
The government introduced the Digital Business Identification (DBID) system on February 06 to bring discipline to the country's e-commerce sector.
