Japan’s Tokyo shares rose Wednesday morning, tracking strong US stocks overnight as well as robust earnings reports of the country’s major companies.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 120.60 points, or 0.53 per cent, from Tuesday to 22,674.32.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 9.93 points, or 0.57 per cent, at 1,763.22, reports Xinhua.
Gainers were led by iron and steel, miscellaneous product and nonferrous metal issues.
