Brac Bank dominated the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) turnover chart on Monday while top ten-traded companies grabbed 41 per cent transactions.
Market operators said investors showed their buying appetite on Brac Bank shares amid dividend expectation as the bank will hold a board meeting on March 21.
The board of directors is likely to recommend dividend in the meeting after considering, among others, audited financial statements of the bank for the year ended on December 31, 2018, officials said.
According to statistics from the premier bourse, about 4.31 million shares of Brac Bank were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 382 million, which was 8.01 per cent of the prime bourse's total turnover.
The bank's share traded between Tk 87.40 and Tk 90.40, before closing at Tk 88.60 each on Monday, gaining 0.11 per cent over the previous session.
The bank's consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 1.19 for July-September 2018 as against Tk 1.41 for July-September 2017.
In nine months for January-September 2018, its consolidated EPS was Tk 3.55 as against Tk 3.53 for January-September 2017.
The consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 3.85 for January-September 2018 as against Tk 10.98 for January-September 2017.
The consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 30.26 as on September 30, 2018 and Tk 23.70 as on September 30, 2017.
The bank, which was listed on the DSE in 2007, disbursed 25 per cent stock dividend the year ended on June 30, 2018.
The bank's paid-up capital is Tk 10.72 billion and authorised capital is Tk 20 billion, while the total number of securities is 1.07 billion, according to statistics from the DSE.
The sponsor-directors own 44.30 per cent stake in bank, while the institutional investors 7.65 per cent, foreign investors 41.72 per cent and the general public 6.33 per cent as on February 28, 2019, the DSE data shows.
BATBC followed next, with shares worth Tk 321 million changing hands. The multinational company's share closed at Tk 4,904.20 each, gaining 2.67 per cent over the previous session.
United Power clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 216 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 0.81 per cent to close at 402.10 each.
Square Pharmaceuticals emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 197 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 267.30 each, edging down by 0.12 per cent.
Dutch-Bangla Bank notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 184 million changing hands. The bank's share price advanced 1.79 per cent to close at Tk 222 each.
The turnover of Singer Bangladesh was Tk 149 million. The company's share price shed 1.84 per cent to close at Tk 271.90 each.
Monno Ceramic featured a turnover of nearly Tk 122 million. The company's share price closed at Tk 327.70, losing 7.40 per cent.
The turnover of Marico Bangladesh was Tk 121 million. The multinational company's share closed at Tk 1621.90, soaring 6.25 per cent.
Bata Shoe featured a turnover of Tk 108 million. The company's share closed at Tk 1265.40 each, remaining unchanged over the previous day.
Legacy Footwear also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 93 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 133.50, plunging by 9.06 per cent over the previous day.
