VFS Thread generates highest turnover on DSE

VFS Thread Dyeing dominated the Dhaka bourse's transaction chart Tuesday while ten most-traded stocks accounted for more than one-fifth transaction.

Market operators said investors continued to show their appetite on VFS Thread as its share price is soaring without having any undisclosed price sensitive information.

The VFS's share price surged 32 per cent within a month to close at Tk 31.90 on Tuesday. Its share price was Tk 21.60 a month earlier.

According to data available with the DSE, about 5.84 million shares of VFS Thread were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 185 million, which was 3.04 per cent of the day's total turnover of Tk 6.09 billion.

The company's share closed at Tk 31.90 on Tuesday, gaining 4.59 per cent over the previous session.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 1.04 in six months for July-December 2019 as against Tk 1.02 for July-December 2018.

The company, which was listed on the DSE in 2018, disbursed 6.0 per cent cash and 10 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.02 billion and authorised capital is Tk 2.0 billion while the total number of securities is 102.50 million.

Square Pharma came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 167 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 0.10 per cent to close at Tk 191 each.

Central Pharma clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 153 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 16.90, soaring 5.62 per cent.

Far Chemical emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 134 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 2.45 per cent to Tk 11.90 each.

Dafodil Computers notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 126 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 62.30, falling 0.16 per cent.

The turnover of Orion Infusion was Tk 125 million. The company's share price fell 5.19 cent to close at Tk 82.20 each.

LafargeHolcim featured a turnover of Tk 99 million. The company's share closed at Tk 44.50, gaining 5.70 per cent.

The turnover of Silva Pharma was Tk 98 million. Its share price advanced 2.32 per cent to close at Tk 22 each.

The Orion Pharma featured a turnover of Tk 96 million. The company's share closed at Tk 42.90, losing 0.46 per cent.

Grameenphone also made its way to the day's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 93 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 1.06 per cent to close at Tk 268.50 each.
