Ten most-traded cos snare 30pc turnover

Ten most-traded companies captured more than 30 per cent transaction of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Wednesday while Brac Bank topped the chart.

Market analysts said investors were active on both sides of the Brac Bank shares after earnings declaration for January-March, 2019.

The un-audited consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of the bank stood at Tk 1.22 for January-March 2019 as against Tk 1.28 for January-March 2018.

The consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 5.82 for January-March 2019 as against Tk 5.67 for January-March 2018.

The consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 34.09 as on March 31, 2019 and Tk. 26.21 as on March 31, 2018.

According to statistics from the DSE, with 3.0 million shares of Brac Bank were traded on the day, generating a turnover of Tk 171 million, which was 6.67 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 2.56 billion on Wednesday which was Tk 2.51 billion in the previous session.

The bank's share closed at Tk 55.70 on Wednesday, losing 2.96 per cent over the previous session.

The bank's share traded between Tk 55 and Tk 90.40 in the last one year.

Brac Bank, which was listed on the DSE in 2007, declared 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2018.

The bank's paid-up capital is Tk 10.72 billion, authorised capital is Tk 20 billion and the total number of securities is 1.07 billion.

The sponsor-directors own 44.30 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 6.90 per cent, foreign investors 42.70 per cent and the general public 6.10 per cent as of March 31, 2019.

Fortune Shoes followed next, with shares worth Tk 112 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 36.90 each, remaining unchanged over the previous day.

Square Pharmaceuticals clinched the third spot, with shares worth more than Tk 111 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 248.40 each, shedding 2.28 per cent.

Premier Bank emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 90 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 3.60 per cent to close at Tk 11.50 each.

IFIC Bank notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 79 million changing hands. The bank's share closed at Tk 11.60, soaring 4.50 per cent.

The turnover of FAS Finance was Tk 57 million. The company's share price advanced 3.37 per cent to close at Tk closed at Tk 9.20 each.

Monno Ceramic featured a turnover of Tk 56 million. The company's share closed at Tk 233.30, gaining 0.52 per cent.

The turnover of Oimex Electrode was Tk 54 million. The company's share price rose 1.13 per cent to close at Tk 35.80 each.

Legacy Footwear featured a turnover of Tk 50 million. The company's share closed at Tk 132.60 each, advancing 1.41 per cent over the previous day.

SS Steel also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 42 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 4.40 per cent to close at Tk 30.40 each.
