Ten companies grab one-third of transactions on DSE

The ten most-traded stocks grabbed over one-third of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) while Beximco topped the turnover list in the outgoing week.

Market analysts said Beximco, the flagship company of the Beximco Group, again topped the turnover list amid influx of buyers and sellers in the market.

Beximco Group companies have also led the market from the front in the past few months, they said.

According to data available with the DSE, some 31.58 million shares of Beximco were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 4.78 billion, which was 6.05 per cent of the week's total turnover.

The company's share closed at Tk 149 on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, shedding 0.60 per cent over the week before.

However, Beximco's share price had jumped to a record high of Tk 185 on November 11, 2021.

The state-run Power Grid Company came second on the turnover list, with shares worth Tk 4.22 billion changing hands. The company's share rose 8.18 per cent to close at Tk 75.40 each on Thursday.

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 3.64 billion changing hands. The state-owned company's share closed at Tk 125.90, rising 20.36 per cent.

Fortune Shoes emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 2.68 billion changing hands. The company's share price rose 10.04 per cent to close at Tk 121.70 each.

Titas Gas notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 2.15 billion changing hands. The government-owned company's share closed at Tk 49.60, surging 21.27 per cent.

The turnover of Bangladesh Submarine Cable was Tk 2.12 billion. The state-run company's share price advanced 2.29 per cent to close at Tk 231.90 each.

LafargeHolcim featured a turnover of Tk 1.99 billion. The multinational cement producer's share closed at Tk 80.50 each, shedding 1.23 per cent.

The turnover of Delta Life Insurance was Tk 1.92 billion. The life insurer's share plunged by 12.29 per cent to close at Tk 186.30 each.

Fareast Islami Life Insurance featured a turnover of Tk 1.80 billion. The company's share closed at Tk 98.30, soaring 43.92 per cent. It was also the week's highest gainer.
