Dhaka bourse is set to commence the trading of government treasury bond within two months on completion of necessary preparations.
As part of the move, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday conducted a transaction of T-bonds on a trial basis through a virtual programme.
Dr Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, a commissioner of the securities regulator, inaugurated the programme for the purpose.
"We hope the DSE will start the trading of treasury bond within two months," he says.
Mr Ahmed laid emphasis on the easing of the T-bond transaction system.
"The DSE worked hard to start the trading of treasury bonds. An easy trading system will facilitate the market's expansion."
The commissioner says the government and the securities regulator want the participation of the public in T-bond transactions on the bourse.
Officials of finance division of the ministry of finance, Bangladesh Bank, Dhaka and Chattogram bourses, depository organisation, brokerage firms and asset management companies joined the event.
Presently, a total of 222 treasury bonds are listed with the premier bourse, the DSE.
