Robi Axiata, the country’s second largest telecom operator, posted a 2.81 per cent growth in profit year-on-year to Tk 1.83 billion in 2022.
Based on the profit, the multinational company declared a 7.0 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31 2022, the highest dividend since listed with the stock market in 2020.
The dividend declaration came at a meeting of its board of directors held on Thursday evening, according to price sensitive information posted on its website.
The final approval of the division will come during the annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on April 25 at 3:00pm. The record date has been set for March 13.
The company has reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 0.35 for the year ended on December 31, 2022. Its EPS was Tk 0.34 for the year ended on December 31, 2021.
Robi’s net asset value (NAV) per share stood at Tk 12.82 for the year 2022 which was Tk 12.64 for the same period a year earlier.
Its net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) stood at Tk 7.12 in 2022 as against Tk 6.22 in the same period last year.
Robi joined the stock market with the largest-ever initial public offering (IPO) in Bangladesh’s capital market history on December 24, 2020.
In 2021, the multinational telecom operator provided a 5.0 per cent cash dividend (3.0 per cent interim and 2.0 per cent final).
The company’s share price has been languishing at the floor price of Tk 30 since August 4 last year.
Its paid-up capital is Tk 52.37 billion and authorised capital is Tk 60 billion, while the total number of securities is nearly 5.24 billion.
The sponsor-directors own 90 per cent stake in the Robi while the institutional investors own 1.65 per cent and the general public 8.35 per cent as on January this year.
The mobile phone operator started its journey in 1997 under the brand name of Aktel. It then changed its name to Axiata (Bangladesh) in 2009 and took the present name Robi Axiata in 2010.
