Prices of 41 cos up due to rise of institutional investments

Some 41 listed companies saw a rise of institutional investments ranging between 1.0 per cent and 8.0 per cent in May compared to April last, according to information of Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange.

The share prices of these companies also rose up to 41 per cent in May last on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) following increased institutional investments.

Of the companies, Prime Finance & Investment saw the highest rise in institutional stakes, while the City General Insurance Company witnessed the highest price hike of 40.80 per.

At the end of May last, the stakes of institutional investments rose to 16.43 per cent at Prime Finance & Investment from 8.66 per cent observed in April.

During the period, the company's share price rose 20.88 per cent to close at Tk 11 each.

JMI Syringes & Medical Devices saw 13.74 per cent institutional investment at the end of May. The amount was 6.28 per cent in April.

The company's share price rose 17.50 per cent to close at Tk 373.90 each on May 30 last.

The institutional investments rose to 20.25 per cent at Nitol Insurance Company in May from 13.37 per cent observed at the end of April last.

The company's share price rose 24.41 per cent in May to close at Tk 26.50 each.

Institutional investors held 2.75 per cent shares at Federal Insurance Company in April last. The stakes of institutional investors rose to 7.77 per cent at the end of May. The company's share price rose 12.80 per cent in May last.

The institutional stakes rose to 33.80 per cent at Meghna Life Insurance Company at the end of May from 28.98 per cent observed in April last.

Rupali Life Insurance Company reported 6.73 per cent stakes held by institutional investors in April. Later, the amount rose to 11.49 per cent at the end of May.

The company's share price declined 22.03 per cent to close at Tk 66.90 each in May last.

The stakes of institutional investors rose to 46.09 per cent Prime Islami Life Insurance at the end of May from 41.65 per cent observed in April.

The company's share price rose 15.84 per cent to close at Tk 60.70 each on the premier bourse.

At the end of May, Uttara Bank saw 25.01 per cent institutional stakes in May. The amount was 21.27 per cent in April Last.

The company's share price closed at Tk 28.80 each on May 30 from the price observed on April 30 last.

Institutional investors held 12.39 per cent shares of Sonar Bangla Insurance in April. At the end of May, their holding rose 15.97 per cent.

The company's share price declined 1.43 per cent in May to close at Tk 48.30 each.

Institutional stakes rose to 14.13 per cent at Janata Insurance Company in May from 10.83 per cent observed in April last.

The company's share price closed at Tk 17.30 each on May 30 with a rise of 27.71 per cent from the price observed on April 30.

The institutional investments rose 2.97 per cent at City General Insurance Company in May. The company's share price rose 40.80 per cent in May compared to closing price of April.

The remaining 30 companies saw rise in institutional investments up to 2.81 per cent.
