Most mutual funds see price rise

Majority number of listed mutual funds (MFs) on Sunday saw price appreciation along with dominating the chart of top 10 gainers of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

Of 36 listed MFs listed with the premier bourse DSE, 27 saw price appreciation, while one witnessed marginal price correction and the prices of the remaining eight funds remained unchanged.

Of top 10 gainers, six were listed MFs whose unit prices advanced ranging 4.16 per cent to 9.87 per cent on Sunday.

Insiders said small cap companies saw price appreciation against the price correction witnessed by large cap companies amidst global economic uncertainty created by Ukraine-Russia war crisis.

"Units of the MFs have been traded at discounted prices. Investors' participation, therefore increased in MFs on Sunday due to lower market prices," said the chief executive officer of an asset management company.

Prime Finance First Mutual Fund saw the highest price appreciation with a rise of 9.88 per cent or Tk 1.60 and closed at Tk 17.80 each. The fund posted a turnover of Tk 21.32 million on Sunday.

The unit price of CAPM IBBL Islamic Mutual advanced 9.56 per cent or Tk 1.30 and closed at Tk 14.90 each. The fund featured a turnover of Tk 14.87 million.

The unit price of SEML Lecture Equity Management Fund rose 6.82 per cent or Tk 0.60 and closed at Tk 9.30 each. The fund posted a turnover of Tk 18.19 million.

SEML IBBL Shariah Fund saw a price appreciation of Tk 5.41 per cent or Tk 0.60 to close at Tk 11.90 each. The fund featured a turnover of Tk 38.02 million.

CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund-01 posted a turnover of turnover Tk 8.37 million. The unit price of the fund advanced 4.17 per cent or Tk 0.40 and closed at Tk 10 each.

Vanguard AML BD Finance Mutual Fund One saw a price appreciation of 4.16 per cent or Tk 0.30 and closed at Tk 7.50 each. The fund posted a turnover of Tk 1.71 million.

Apart from the mutual funds, BD Thai Food & Beverage, Far Chemical Industries, Tamijuddin Textile Mills and Hwa Well Textiles (BD) saw price appreciation ranging 6.14 per cent to 9.87 per cent per unit on Sunday.
