Monno Ceramic generates highest weekly turnover

Monno Ceramic Industries dominated the Dhaka bourse's transaction chart in the outgoing week while block trade accounted for nearly 41 per cent of the total turnover.

Market analysts said some investors showed their buying appetite on Monno Ceramic stocks though there was no price sensitive information.

According to the DSE data, some 3.14 million shares of Monno Ceramic were traded, generating a turnover of more than Tk 428 million, which was 4.83 per cent of the week's total turnover of Tk 8.88 billion.

The company's price closed at Tk 135.10 on Wednesday, the last session of the week, gaining 2.82 per cent over the previous week.

Linde Bangladesh came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth more than Tk 218 million changing hands. Its share rose 4.19 per cent to close at Tk 1,239 each.

Square Pharma clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 167 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 172.50, gaining 1.23 per cent.

Orion Pharma emerged as the fourth, with shares worth nearly Tk 153 million changing hands. The company's advanced 0.95 per cent to close at Tk 42.70.

On the other hand, block trade contributed nearly 41 per cent to the total weekly turnover of the 8.88 billion.

Renata Ltd topped the block trade board, with shares worth Tk 3.14 billion changing hands during the week on the block trade.

The Renata contributed an unprecedented 35 per cent of the week's total turnover riding on block trade after the news of collaboration among Square Pharma, Renata and Apex Pharma, according to EBL Securities.

The board of Square Pharmaceuticals has approved agreements with Renata Oncology Ltd. and Apex Pharma Ltd. for contract manufacturing of some products on behalf of the company to meet increased demand of existing products and to introduce new products.
