Low-cap cos dominate turnover chart

Low-cap companies continued to dominate the Dhaka bourse's turnover chart while ten most-traded companies captured 30 per cent transactions on Wednesday.

National Tubes continued to top the turnover chart amid rumours that work order has been given to National Tubes to establish new pipe lines all over the country and NBR has refunded the advance tax to National Tubes.

The National Tubes, however, said this news is not authentic and the company authority does not know the source of news.

According to statistics available with the DSE, about 1.16 million shares of National Tubes were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 201 million, which was 5.41 per cent of the day's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 3.71 billion on Wednesday, down from Tk 4.35 billion in the previous session.

The company's share price fell 2.58 per cent to close at Tk 169.90 on Wednesday, after hitting one year high on Tuesday.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at negative Tk 0.96 for July 2018-March 2019 as against negative Tk 2.24 for July 2017-March 2018.

The net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 0.03 for July 2018-March 2019 as against negative Tk 1.26 for July 2017-March 2018.

The net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 175.07 as on March 31, 2019 and Tk 193.62 as on June 30, 2018.

The National Tubes, which was listed on the DSE in 1989, disbursed 10 per cent stock dividend in 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 316.56 million and authorised capital is Tk 1.0 billion while total number of securities is 31.65 million.

The sponsor-directors own 0.05 per cent stake in the company, while the government owns 51 per cent, institutional investors own 20.14 per cent and the general public 28.81 per cent as of August 31, 2019, the DSE data showed.

Monno Stafflers came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 194 million changing hands. The company's share price fell further by 6.25 per cent to close at Tk 1,706.80 each.

Square Pharmaceuticals clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 152 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 228.80, losing 3.21 per cent.

The Sinobangla Industries emerged fourth, with shares worth Tk 113 million changing hands. The company's share soared 9.52 per cent to close at Tk 84 each.

Legacy Footwear notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 91 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 130.30 each, losing 5.37 per cent.

The turnover of Stylecraft was Tk 77 million. The company's share closed at Tk 779.40, losing 4.07 per cent.

The JMI Syringes featured a turnover of Tk 76 million. The company's share price 5.55 per cent to close at Tk 416.80 each.

The turnover of Fortune Shoes was Tk 74 million. The company's share price edged up by 0.27 per cent to close at Tk 37 each.

Global Insurance featured a turnover of Tk 71 million. The company's share closed at Tk 24.50 each, soaring 9.86 per cent over the previous session.

The United Power also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 69 million changing hands. The company's share shed 1.75 per cent to close at Tk 331.30 each.
