KPCL generates highest turnover

Ten most-traded cos grab 27pc transaction

Khulna Power Company Ltd dominated the Dhaka Stock Exchange's transaction chart on Sunday while ten most traded companies accounted for 27 per cent transactions.

Market analysts said investors showed their appetite on Khulna Power shares after the news that it will acquire 35 per cent ordinary shares of United Payra Power Plant.

Recently, the power generation company has decided to acquire 35 per cent ordinary shares of United Payra Power Plant, subject to obtaining regulatory approvals of relevant authorities.

According to the DSE data, some 2.26 million shares of Khulna Power were traded, generating a turnover of more than Tk 105 million, which was 3.87 per cent of the day's total turnover of Tk 2.71 billion.

The company's share closed at Tk 47, soaring 4.91 per cent over the previous day.

Its share traded between Tk 34.90 and Tk 73.50 in the last one year.

The company has approved 40 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019. In 2018, it disbursed 30 per cent cash and 10 per cent stock dividend.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 3.97 billion and authorised capital is Tk 7.0 billion while total number of securities is 397.41 million.

The sponsor-director own 69.99 per cent stake in the company, while the institutional investors own 11.46 per cent, foreign investors 0.72 per cent and the general public 17.83 per cent as on November 30, 2019, the DSE data showed.

Ring Shine Textiles came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 97 million changing hands.

The company's share plunged 9.02 per cent to close at Tk 11.10 each.

Paramount Textile clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 91 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 60.20, gaining 4.15 per cent over the previous day.

Beacon Pharma emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 73 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 2.84 per cent to close at Tk 43.50 each.

Quasem Industries notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 70 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 36, soaring 9.09 per cent. It was also the day's top gainer.

The turnover of Karnaphuli Insurance was Tk 66 million. The company's share price fell 4.17 per cent to close at Tk 23 each.

Genex Infosys featured a turnover of more than Tk 65 million. The company's share closed at Tk 68.90 each, gaining 1.32 per cent.

The turnover of Standard Ceramic was Tk 60 million. The company's share rose 1.42 per cent to close at Tk 684.90 each.
