Hefty growth in earnings per share of MNCs

Most of the listed multinational companies (MNCs) have registered hefty growth in EPS for January-June, 2021 compared to same period of the previous year.

Some of the companies have said they saw rise in EPS as their sales increased for the period compared to the previous year.

Of the MNCs, the Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh has reported a consolidated EPS of Tk 11.79 for January-June 2021 from the loss of Tk 2.54 reported for January-June 2020.

The company's consolidated EPS has stood at Tk. 3.56 for April-June 2021 from the loss of Tk 3.31 per share for April-June 2020.

The company's consolidated NAV per share was Tk. 77.90 as on June 30, 2021 and Tk. 68.10 as on December 31, 2020.

The company has informed that for the period January to June 2021, the NAV per share increased mainly for higher inventory, more cash in hand compared to the end of December 2020 and positive impact of H1 Net Profit.

"EPS improved by BDT 14.33 (11.79 vs -2.54) than the same period of last year, mainly for higher sales volume, increased gross profit margin and less financial expenses."

Linde Bangladesh has posted a hefty growth in EPS for January-June, 2021 compared to same period of the previous year.

The company has reported its EPS of Tk 41.42 for January-June 2021 as against Tk 25.16 for January-June 2020.

The EPS was Tk. 22.54 for April-June 2021 as against Tk. 4.79 for April-June 2020.

The NAV per share was Tk. 357.17 as on June 30, 2021 and Tk. 355.75 as on December 31, 2020.

RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) has posted a positive EPS for January-June, 2021 compared to same period of the previous year.

The company has reported a consolidated EPS of Tk. 1.02 for January-June 2021 as against the loss of Tk0.09 per share for January-June 2020.

The consolidated EPS was Tk. 0.52 for April-June 2021 as against the loss of Tk 0.44 per share for April-June 2020.

Consolidated NAV per share was Tk. 16.43 as on June 30, 2021 and Tk. 15.60 as on June 30, 2020.

In its disclosure, the company has informed that due to the revised and responsive business strategy taken by the management,the sales has increased by 65.73 per cent from Tk 1.97 billion to above Tk 3.26 billion compared to same period of previous year.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh has reported its consolidated EPS was Tk. 1.85 for January-June 2021 as against Tk. 0.73 for January-June 2020.

The consolidated EPS was Tk. 0.96 for April-June 2021 as against Tk. 0.28 for April-June 2020.

The consolidated NAV per share was Tk. 15.80 as on June 30, 2021 and Tk. 14.89 as on December 31, 2020.

British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) has reported its EPS of Tk 15.96 for January-June 2021 as against Tk 11.12 for January-June 2020.

The company's EPS has stood at Tk 8.79 for April-June 2021 from Tk. 5.49 reported for same period of the previous year.

In its quarterly disclosure, the company said the EPS increased for higher profit after tax compared to same period last year driven by growth in volume offset by growth in operating expenses.

Meanwhile, the company's board of directors has approved the investment decision amounting to Tk 3.22 billion for Savar site factory.

The investment will be funded from internal  sources and bank financing based on cash flow of the Company.

"This investment would cater the upcoming exports opportunities and create contingency capacity."

Marico Bangladesh has reported its EPS of Tk 34.29 for April-June 2021 as against Tk. 31.64 for April-June 2020.

The NOCFPS was Tk. 27.38 for April-June 2021 as against Tk. 33.74 for April-June 2020.

NAV per share was Tk. 86.24 as on June 30, 2021 and Tk. 75.53 as on June 30, 2020.

Unilever Consumer Care saw a decline in EPS for April-June, 2021 compared to same period of the previous year.

The company has reported its EPS of Tk. 8.39 for April-June 2021 as against Tk. 11.40 for April-June 2020.

The EPS was Tk. 18.59 for January-June 2021 as against Tk. 26.37 for January-June 2020.

The NAV per share was Tk. 97.67 as on June 30, 2021 and Tk. 105.51 as on June 30, 2020.
