DSE, CSE see mostly higher in early trading

Stocks nudged higher at the early hour of trading Thursday as some investors are active on sector-wise stocks amid ongoing quarterly earnings declaration.

Following the previous day’s positive close, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 12 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 12 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX gained more than 11 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 35 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 11.58 points or 0.20 per cent to reach at 5,813 points at 11:00am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also advanced 4.64 points or 0.21 per cent to reach at 2,171 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 1.05 points or 0.07 per cent to reach at 1,343 points till then.

Turnover, most important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 847 million when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 126 advanced, 84 declined and 48 remained unchanged.

Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 137 million changing hands, closely followed by United Power Tk 89 million, The IBN Sina Tk 42 million, Pharma Aids Tk 28 million and Beximco Tk 22 million.

The port city bourse also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI-advancing 35 points to stand at 17,929, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 21 points to stand at 10,837 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 34 gained, 31 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged with Tk 140 million in turnover.
