DSE, CSE rally continues

Bourses witness buying spree for fourth session

Bourses of the country ended in the green zone for the fourth consecutive session on Thursday, as optimistic investors continued their buying spree.

Trading on the premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher in the morning and the buyers remained active on sector-specific issues till the end of the session, which was the last trading day of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, advanced 26.69 points or 0.44 per cent to close at 6,099 points.

The DS30 index, comprising the blue-chips also rose 12.47 points or 0.57 per cent to close at 2,201.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 7.57 points or 0.57 per cent to stand at 1,329 points.

Turnover, an important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 6.76 billion at the end of the day.

Of the 332 issues traded on the day, 183 advanced, 108 declined and 41 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended higher with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –advancing 45 points to stand at 11438 points.

Of the 242 issues traded, 143 gained, 65 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged with little over Tk 454 million in turnover total.
