Dhaka bourse on Wednesday made a positive start following investors’ increased participation, mostly on small cap companies including insurers.
After one hour of the session, DSEX, the broad index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at 4924.52 points with a marginal rise of 0.14 per cent or 7.27 points.
The shariah based index DSES advanced 0.07 per cent or 0.79 point to stand at 1119.89 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chip securities, went up by 0.06 per cent or 1.11 points to stay at 1695.51 points at that time.
Of the total issues were being traded, 171 advanced, 97 declined and 73 were unchanged till then.
The country's premier bourse featured a turnover of above Tk 2.21 billion when the report was filed.
Of the most traded issues, Provati Insurance posted a turnover of Tk 173 million followed by Continental Insurance Tk 130 million, Express Insurance Tk 101 million, Republic Insurance Tk 98 million and SS Steels Tk 93 million.
Within the first hour of the session, insurers witnessed the most price appreciation on the DSE.
