BSC proposes 12pc dividend

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) proposed on Thursday to disburse 12 per cent dividend to the shareholders due to increased profits made during the fiscal year 2020-21 compared to the previous fiscal.

The proposed dividend is 2.0 (two) per cent higher compared to FY 2019-20. This was disclosed during the 310th board of directors meeting of BSC with state minister for shipping Khaled Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair at its office in the capital.

The meeting was informed that BSC has earned net profits worth over Tk 720 million during the fiscal year (FY) 2020-21 which was over Tk 414 million during the FY 2019-20. An official of the Ministry of Shipping (MoS) told the FE the net profits have increased over Tk 305 million during the FY 2020-21 compared to the profits earned during the FY 2019-20.

The BSC has made profits worth over Tk 662 million during the first quarter (July -September) of the FY 2021-22, which was Tk 88 million during the same period of FY 2020-21.

The meeting informed that 10 per cent dividend was disbursed to the shareholders during the FY 2019-20.

Shipping secretary and member of BSC Board of Directors Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, member of board of directors and also managing director of BSC Commodore Suman Mahmud Sabbir along with other board members were present during the meeting.
