Bourses rebound after two-session break

DSE, CSE bounce back in green zone

Bourses returned to the green zone on Tuesday, but the turnover edged lower than the previous session as investors opted for buying riding on sector-specific issues.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, advanced 23.98 points or 0.38 per cent to settle at 6,287 points.

The DS30 index, comprising the blue-chips rose 11.76 points or 0.51 per cent to finish at 2278 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 3.40 points or 0.24 per cent to finish at 1,390.

Turnover, an important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 6.48 billion, which was 6.87 billion on the previous day.

Out of the 232 issues, 156 closed higher, 126 closed lower and 50 issues remained unchanged on DSE floor.

The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index - CSCX – advancing 55.43 points to close at 11,791.

Of the 243 issues traded, 117 closed higher, 90 closed lower and 37 issues stayed unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city bourse traded a total of 11.66 million shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 319 million in turnover.
