Bangladesh National Ins declares 12pc cash dividend

Record date for entitlement of dividend is July 29

The board of directors of Bangladesh National Insurance Company Ltd has recommended 12 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2019.

The board of directors of the non-life insurer in a meeting held on Monday approved the audited financial statements for the year ended on December 31, 2019 and recommended the dividend.

The final approval of the dividend will come during the annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on August 26 at 12:00noon through virtual platform.

The record date for entitlement of the dividend is July 29.

The insurer has reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 2.23 for the year ended on December 31, 2019 which was Tk 2.00 in the previous year.

Its net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 19.05 for the year ended on December 31, 2019 which was Tk 18.02 a year ago.

The company’s net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 1.45 for the year ended on December 31, 2019, which was Tk 2.68 in the previous year.

In 2018, the company also disbursed 12 per cent cash dividend.

Each share of the company, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2016, closed at Tk 7.10 on Monday.

In the last one year, its share traded between Tk 14.30 and Tk 27.30 per share.

The company’s paid-up capital is 442.50 million, authorised capital is Tk 1.0 billion and the total number of securities is 44.25 million.

Sponsor-directors own 50.50 per cent stake in the company while institutional investors 8.71 per cent and general public 40.71 per cent as on February 29, 2020, the DSE data showed.
