Abnormal price rise of shares of 15 companies

Some 15 listed companies recently saw abnormal rise in share prices though there was no undisclosed price-sensitive information (PSI).

According to information of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the companies' share prices jumped between 16 per cent and 133 per cent in recent sessions.

In response to separate queries made by the DSE, the companies in last week informed that there was no undisclosed price sensitive information for recent unusual price hike of the issues.

Of the companies, the newly-listed South Bangla Agriculture & Commerce Bank (SBAC) saw the highest price appreciation.

The SBAC made debut trading on August 11 and on the day its share price closed at Tk 11 each.

After nine sessions, the company's share price closed at Tk 25.60 each on Wednesday with a rise of 133 per cent or Tk 14.60.

The share price of Shahjibazar Power Company closed at Tk 77.70 each on August 11. Later, the share price rose 37.58 per cent or Tk 29.20 to close at Tk 106.90 each on Thursday.

The share price of Salvo Chemical Industry rose 26 per cent or Tk11.20 in seven sessions and closed at Tk 54.50 each on Wednesday.

The Dacca Dyeing & Manufacturing Company saw 16.52 per cent rise in share price in seven sessions and finally the price closed at Tk 26.80 each on Thursday.

The share price of Janata Insurance Company closed at Tk 39 each on August 16. Later, the company's share price rose 49.23 per cent or Tk 19.20 to close at Tk 58.20 each on Wednesday. On August 9, the share price of United Finance closed at Tk 18.90 each. The company's share price rose 45.50 per cent or Tk 8.6 to close at Tk 27.50 each on Wednesday.

On August 10, the share price of Maksons Spinning Mills closed at Tk 20.60 each. The company's share price closed at Tk 26.30 each on Tuesday with a gain of 27.66 per cent or Tk 5.7.

Of other companies, the share price of Paper Processing & Packaging rose 24 per cent in seven sessions, Meghna Pet Industries 68.52 per cent in nine sessions, Meghna Condensed Milk Industries 50 per cent in seven sessions and Ring Shine Textiles 43.26 per cent in seven sessions.

The share prices of Fareast Finance & Investment, Metro Spinning, Regent Textile Mills and Mithun Knitting and Dyeing also rose abnormally in recent sessions without any undisclosed price sensitive information.
