Tigresses clinch title in WT20 qualifiers

Bangladesh women’s team made history by becoming the champions of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament as they defeated Ireland by 25 runs in the final in the Netherlands’s Utrecht on Saturday.

Put into bat first, Ayasha Rahman struck 46 off 42 deliveries to help Bangladesh score 122-9 runs before Panna Ghosh claimed 5-16 to bowl the opposition out for 97 runs in 18.4 overs.

Bangladesh earlier defeated Scotland by 49 runs in the second semi-final match on Thursday, bdnews24 reported.

The victory ensured their presence in the ICC Women’s World T20, scheduled to be held in West Indies in November, and set up a mouth-watering WT20Q final against Ireland, who beat Papua New Guinea.

Bangladesh, who claimed a shock victory at the Women's T20 Asia Cup last month before winning a T20I series in Ireland, have continued their impressive recent form in this tournament.
