Tigers roar in Colombo

Bangladesh have earned a scintillating win over Sri Lanka beating the host by 2 wickets to reach the final of Nidahas Trophy at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday.

Chasing a challenging target of 160 runs, the Tigers reached home with one ball to spare.

Tamim top scored for the Tigers with 50 off 42 deliveries while Mahmudullah was unbeaten on 43 off just 18 balls.

After the departures of in-form Mushfiqur (28) and Tamim Iqbal Bangladesh found themselves in a rut.

Shakib Al Hasan (7) and Mahmudullah somewhat stabilised the innings.

But after Shakib failed to make his mark with the bat on his return from injury, Mahmudullah’s heroics saved the day for Bangladesh.

The dependable middle order batsman smashed a six off the penultimate delivery to take the team home.

Bangladesh will play India in the final on Sunday.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to field, Bangladesh restricted Sri Lanka to 159 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in stipulated 20 overs.

Kushal Perera and Thisara Perera scored 61 runs and 58 runs respectively for the hosts.

Tamim Iqbal was adjudged Man-of-the-match, while Mahmudullah was declared Hero-of-the-match.
