Sylhet Sixers fined for slow over rate

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise team Sylhet Sixers have been fined for slow over rate against Rajshahi Kings at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Match Referee Neyamur Rashid Rahul imposed the fine after the Nasir Hossain-led Sylhet Sixers were found guilty to be two (02) overs short of the mark when time slot was taken into consideration, reports UNB.

In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the BCB Code of Conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fail to bowl within the allotted time and the fined amount will be double for the captain.

Accordingly, Nasir has been fined 40 per cent of his match fee while his players have received 20 per cent fines. The Sylhet Sixers captain pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction and as such there was no need for a formal hearing.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Anisur Rahman and Riaz Uddin, third umpire Sharfuddowla Ibne-Shahid Saikat and fourth umpire Moniruzzaman Tinku.
