Bangladesh girls storm into SAFF U-15 championship final

Bangladesh have stormed into the final of SAFF Under-15 Women’s Championship by blowing hosts Bhutan away 5-0.

They now need to beat India in the final next Saturday to defend the title after the semifinal victory at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu on Thursday.

In the other semifinal earlier in the day, last tournament's runners-up India edged Nepal 2-1, reports bdnews24.com

Bangladesh opened their account when Anai Mogini’s long-range shot found the net in the 18th minute.

Anuching Mogini’s volley from outside the box after 10 more minutes extended the lead.

The team of Coach Golam Rabbani Chhoton finished the first half with a 3-0 lead after Tahura Khatun fired in Sajeda Khatun’s cross thanks to some poor goalkeeping.

Captain Maria Manda snuffed out Bhutan’s chances of a comeback with a fiery strike over the goalie’s head in the 69th minute.

Sajeda Akter Ripa’s goal in the dying minutes of the game ensured the facile victory for Bangladesh.
