Ansu Fati goal keeps Barcelona afloat in the UCL

Barcelona beat Dynamo Kyiv by 1-0 on matchday 4, thanks to a goal by Ansu Fati and keep themselves alive in the tournament. This happens to be their first away win in the whole season.

In a do or die game, Barca were hosted by Dynamo Kyiv at the NYJ Olympijs'kyj stadium on Tuesday night.

Barca had to make 3 changes due to injuries from the game against Alaves. Lenglet came in for Pique, Fati for Araujo and Frenkie for Dest.

Dynamo Kyiv on the other hand made only one change from their game against Mariupol. Striker Denis Harmash came in for Benjamin Verbic.

Barca started intensely as expected as it was their fight for survival. Memphis saw his shot blocked from close range by Syrota. In the 16th minute, Kyiv keeper Bushchan couldn’t judge the flight of a cross from Gavi leaving the post open but Jordi Alba could not capitalise on it.

Dynamo Kyiv tried threatening Barca from a counter-attack. Shaparenko couldn’t finish from the near penalty mark in the 24th minute.

Ter Stegen saved Barca in the very next minute from a shot of De Pena. Shaparenko again came close in the 28th minute but hit it wide. Barca came the closest to scoring in the first half when Nico Gonzalez header from the corner, unfortunately, struck Memphis in the 42nd minute.

The game was quite open in the first half as both teams penetrated the opponent d-box several times. But neither could produce the finishing touch. Hence, the scoreline remained 0-0 in the first 45 minutes.

Both the teams kept the same tempo and energy from the beginning of the second half. Karavaev's curler missed the target by inches in the 57th minute.

Barca were awarded a penalty for a foul on Fati but was denied by VAR. The glorious moment came for Barca in the 69th minute.

A low cross from Oscar Mingueza was deflected by Shaparenko which fell kindly for Fati. He did not make any mistake to fire the loose ball at the top of the net.

Ter Stegen kept Barca's lead intact with a fine save against Tsigankov in the 81st minute. Neither team could fashion anything meaningful in the remaining time.

Barca moved to 2nd place with this win while Dynamo Kyiv remain at last place.
