Twitter has updated its transparency report wherein it gives details on the number of information requests, trademark notices, removal requests and more it received in the past few months.

The report also shows a number of requests from different countries including India, who has requested some 422 account information requests between July 1 and December 31 last year.

The volume of accounts, specified in these requests, was 1052. Out of these Twitter complied 18 per cent of total requests.

This was more than the requests that came between January and June last year, reports TOI.

Twitter has also been mentioned that the micro-blogging website had 667 removal requests from the government that had 2,228 specified accounts.

Twitter, however, complied 2.0 per cent of these requests.

Most account request information came from the US - 2,092, which had 3,860 accounts specified. Twitter complied 73 per cent of these requests.

India was in the fourth position after the US, UK and Japan.

Twitter added that it globally received the same number of information requests compared to the previous reporting period.

However, the aggregated number of accounts specified dropped by 34 per cent.

While requests from the US comprise 30 per cent of global government information requests, requests from Japan comprised of 20 per cent.

However, the social media firm cleared that during the reporting period, Twitter “Requests from the United Kingdom (13 per cent), India (6.0 per cent), Germany (6.0 per cent), and France (5.0 per cent) together account for 30 per cent of all global information requests, and 29 per cent of all global accounts specified.”

There could be several reasons why Twitter doesn’t comply with requests. This is, however, not the exact numbers as Twitter says it might have some cases, which it received during the reporting, in progress.
