Razer trying to capture mobile gamers through its new phone

Razer is a brand known for making high-performance hardware and accessories for gaming. Razer Blade Pro, Razer Blade Stealth, and BlackWidow are some of its most popular products which are used both by gamers and non-gamers for their high build quality and specifications. With a solid foothold in the gaming PC industry, Razer entered the smartphone industry by launching Razer Phone, an android phone for gamers.

The phone was built by some of the former employees of Nexbit, a company bought by the gaming firm. Unlike the flagships of 2017, it has large bezels. It has all the 2017 top end specs including a 5.7-inch display with a 1440p screen, Snapdragon 835 process, a whopping 8GB of RAM, dual 12-megapixel cameras and 64GB storage.

Razer also put a 4000mAh battery, loud front facing speakers and shoehorned performance technology into a smartphone. With this, the company is targeting 15 to 25-year-old smartphone gaming enthusiasts. It runs on a near stock version of Android 7 Nougat and company officials promised that an update of Android 8 Oreo would be released early next year.

One of the unique aspects of this phone is the adaptable 120Hz display refresh rate, which is more than double to that of the competitors. The firm calls this Ultramotion, which enhances gaming graphics significantly.

The company plans to work with big game developers to optimize some high profile games for this phone including the Final Fantasy 15 and Shadow Gun Legends. The Razer Phone will hit the stores on November 14 priced at $699. If Razer can successfully promote this phone successfully in the gaming community, it could become a solid niche player in the smartphone gaming industry.
